As the popularity of social networking, streaming video and high bandwidth business services continues to climb, demand for higher-speed networks is growing at an astounding pace.
As consumers and business professionals, however, we aren’t always aware of the technology needed to ensure data moves along with the speed of our lives. Large data centers with literally thousands of servers require 100 Gbps network connectivity from the core to the edge while large service provider networks require high density core switching platforms with 100 Gbps interfaces to support the increasing access capacities like 10G PON.
As a result, scalable, energy efficient (and not to mention affordable) 100 Gigabit Ethernet platforms are fast becoming a key requirement for the newest switching infrastructures.
This week, we unveiled our latest solution designed to power the next-generation data center. The BCM88650 series enables the design of switching platforms with densities up to 4,000 100GbE ports – delivering terabit connectivity from the edge to the core of the network.
With the industry’s highest level of integration, the BCM88650 system on chip (SoC) combines the features and functionality of a complete line card into a single chip. Together with Broadcom’s innovative FE1600 (BCM88750) fabric, the BCM88650 SoC enables a new generation of high density networking solutions exceeding 100 terabits per second (Tbps).
Come by our Interop booth next week to see the technology in action or visit our website to learn more.
