Powerline networking is back, and Broadcom’s innovative technology is making it better than ever. It’s simple to install and just works- simply plug an adapter into a standard power outlet to boost the home networks’ performance.
Devolo, the European leader in Powerline Communications (PLC), has picked Broadcom’s HomePlug AV chip to power its latest line of PLC adapters- giving users an easy way to experience Internet everywhere and connect devices in their homes. Devolo’s PLC adapters support the growing need for simultaneously connecting multiple devices to a home network. That allows users to connect devices such as game consoles and Blu-ray players without compromising broadcast and IPTV transmissions.
But it does more than just that. Broadcom’s technology dramatically lowers power consumption – both while “on” and in “sleep” modes – consumes less than 2.5 watts while “on” and less than 0.5W in standby.
How Does Powerline Work?
Powerline adapters use the existing electrical wiring in a home to create an instant network. Literally, users simply plug a tiny device – half the size and 30% cheaper than previous versions – directly into a power outlet. No new wires needed! And because almost every room, users can bring networking technology into areas of the house that have been previously been dead zones.
Powerline Connects the Home
Powerline also opens the door to new IP-based services that service providers can offer their customers, cool apps such as lighting control, home automation and energy management. It also supports the delivery of multiple HD broadband streams and IPTV services throughout the home.
Broadcom is the only company with a complete portfolio of home networking standards to create a high performance and reliable plug-n-play connected network. Adding HomePlug to the existing MoCA, Wi-Fi and DLNA technologies, Broadcom is enhancing the TV and broadband experiences by delivering video, Internet and TV to any screen.
